The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a period of time through which our country was changed dramatically. There were three main changes that occurred in our country. These were production growth, transportation development, and electricity. These factors changed America forever.
During the Industrial Revolution, production grew very much. We went from making everything by hand in homes and cottages to using machines in factories and major industries. This is how mass production was created. This made inventing much easier, and buisinesses were able to expand widely. Mass production first started with Ford's Assembly Line, and then, we moved to machinery. Production growth made everyone's lives easier.
Also, during the industrial revolution transportation developed. Before the Industrial Revolution, people either had to travel by horse, or walk to their destination. News took days and even weeks to travel long distances. Also, cities couldn't expand beyond 3/4 miles of the city center for people's convenience. When cars and railroads were created, cities could expand, and they became less crowded and more sanitary. Also, business grew even more, because people could trade across the continent. Transportation was a major factor of changing America.
The last factor of changing America was the creation of electricity by Thomas Edison. Electricity was needed for many of the inventions including the telephone, the lightbulb, etc. Without inventions such as the telephone, we would still be communicating through writing. This would make a big difference. Today we use telephones 24-7 for business and personal purposes. Without electricity, we would also not have automatic machines which helped production growth. As you can see, electricity made a big difference thanks to Thomas Edison. He created the first electrical powerplant in New York City.
As you can see, these three main factors made a big difference. America has been changed forever. The Industrial Revolution made a humongous impact on our world, not just America. Could you imagine what the world would be like without these inventions?
