The First Reaper
The first reaper was created in 1831 by Cyrus McCormick in Virginia. The product was meant to save farmers from hours of back-breaking labor on the fields and it lived up to its purpose. The invention become so popular amongst farms nationwide as westward expansion was increasing and the demand for goods increased because of settlers and people who moved into urban areas from the rural farmlands. By 1847, McCormick had mass produced his invention in a Chicago factory to be shipped nationwide. So, Cyrus opened up the world of easier labor with his creation of the first reaper.
