The First Moving Assembly Line
Henry Ford
Henry Ford built the first moving assembly line in 1913, he was 50 at the time. The invention of the moving assembly line would allow the Ford industries to build cars at an amazing rate. Ford was the 1st of six siblings he had. Unlike most boys his age he started to like mechanics. Ford left home around 16 to for work as an apprentice in Detroit. He worked there for three years, going home every now an then to help out on his family farm, which he did not like to do at all. When he married his wife, Clara Bryant, he opened a saw mill and supported him-self that way.
Ford Motor Company
In 1903 Ford opened Ford Motor Company, we know it as Ford. Cars were very expensive at that time. Henry Ford wanted to lower prices so the “average citizen” could afford cars. Henry Ford created the idea for a moving assembly line. This, new idea for a moving assembly line would increase production by an incredible amount. Also, because there was much more of the product the price went down. Henry Ford's idea made the car more affordable and cheaper.
The Moving Assembly Line
The automobile industries were just starting to become big at the time. Once Ford came up with the idea in 1913 for the moving assembly line and put it in to play Ford Motor Company was making cars at an amazingly fast rate. After a while other companies, not just automobile, started to use his idea. Know, almost everything could be made at an incredible speed and for very cheap. The idea of a moving assembly line changed the way we live today. Without it a pen, which has a very simple design and is very cheap would be much more expensive. So, the assembly line made so many things that we use on a daily bases much accessible and more affordable.
When Henry Ford made the assembly line there would be a bunch of people working on something as it would move down the line on a conveyor belt. So, you would have to worry abput human error or someone missing something. Also, they were humans they could not work at an amazingly fast rate. Eventually, the people started to be changed out by robots. The robots did not need to stop for a break or go home at night they could work with out stop. The robots could also work much faster then the people could, this increases the production rate and makes more money for the company. Over time there was almost no people but all machines or robots which could make more money for the company making the product. I bet Henry Ford would never of thought his ingenious invention would become the worlds most used way to make something at a very fast rate.
